Ans:
I think Wanda’s family moved to a different city to avoid people making fun of their long and different names. Like Wanda other members of the family also faced mockery and teasing. They moved to a city as in cities everybody had funny names so they won’t face trouble because of names. However they could face difficulties in another ways. They were poor and didn’t possess all the material things the rich possess so they would still have to face various other challenges.

13.  Maddie thought her silence was as bad as Peggy’s teasing was she right ?
Ans:
Yes Maddie was right when she thought that her silence was as bad as Peggy’s teasing  because even though she felt bad about it and never teased Wanda herself she did not say anything to stop it either. When anyone see something wrong happening in front of him or her he is as much an offender as the person committing the offence. Maddie did not say anything to stop teasing Wanda because she did not want to lose Peggy’s friendship. Also she was poor and feared everybody would make of her.

Ans:
Peggy believed that Wanda was dumb as she could not understand why Wanda said she had a hundred dresses when everybody knew that she was poor. Wanda would give the same answer always when everybody was laughing at her. She even spoke about her shoes for this reason. Peggy thought she was dumb. But she changed her opinion later when she saw the hundred dresses Wanda had talked about. She was impressed by the beautiful designs she realised that Wanda was a very talented girl.

The important decision that Maddie made was that she would never support anyone teasing or treating someone else unfairly if she heard that she would speak up. She knew she could not make things right with Wanda but she had decided in future she would never make anybody else unhappy again. Maddie was sad she could not find Wanda at her home. She was unable to sleep she thought of her blue faded dress her shabby house and her hundred drawings. She was feeling guilty that made her think hard to come to take that important decision.

16.  Why do you think Wanda gave Maddie and Peggy the drawings of the dresses why are they surprised ?
Ans:
Maddie and Peggy had written a letter to Wanda it was a friendly letter and Wanda must have understood their feelings behind the writing of the letter. So Wanda requested Miss Mason to give two of her drawings to Maddie and Peggy to let them know that she had forgiven them. When Maddie and Peggy had not received a reply to their letter for a long time they had felt Wanda was still angry with them. Therefore they were surprised to know that Wanda had asked Miss Mason to give them the drawings.

17. Do you think Wanda really thought the girls were teasing her why or why not ?

Wanda knew that the girls were teasing her making fun of her by their behaviour. They would all surround her the moment the dress game began. Peggy kept asking her the same questions everyday. She would nudge one of her friends and the little ones would stop playing and listen to what Wanda is going to answer them. Then they would let go and before she had gone far away they would laugh loudly this showed they were teasing her and having fun.
