1. The monkey was happy living in the fruit tree, but his happiness was not complete. What did he miss?
Ans:- The monkey was lonely he missed having a friend to talk to and sharing the fruits with.

2. What did the two friends generally talk about?
Ans:- The crocodile and the monkey became friends after the monkey offered him delicious fruits everyday. They talked about birds and animals, about the villages nearby and the difficulties villagers faced in raising good crops for lack of rain.

3. Why was the crocodile’s wife annoyed with her husband one day?
Ans:- The crocodile’s wife was annoyed with her husband one day because he stayed with the monkey longer than usual . She was waiting managing the little crocodiles that had just been hatched.

4. Why was the crocodile unwilling to invite his friend home?
Ans:- The crocodile was unwilling to invite his friend home because  his wife may eat  the monkey. He did not want to harm the monkey as he had given delicious fruits to the crocodile to eat and they had become friends.

5. What did the crocodile tell the monkey midstream?
Ans:- The crocodile told the monkey that he had to go under water  and that he had brought the monkey there to kill him as his wife cannot survive without eating his heart.

6. How did the monkey save himself?
Ans:- The monkey told the crocodile that his heart was on the tree near the river and they had to go back to get it. The crocodile turned back and took the monkey to the shore. On the shore the monkey jumped off the crocodile’s  back and ran back to the tree and saved himself.

7. What does the last sentence of the story suggest? What would the crocodile tell his wife?
Ans:- The crocodile was in a fix.  He told his wife that the monkey had gone up the tree to fetch his heart and would come back with lots of fruits for her to eat.
