MEANINGS/ DEFINATIONS:
- Fraction: A fraction is a number representing a part of a whole or is an operation on a number.
- Denominator: It is the number of equal parts into which the whole has been divided. Eg. where 12 is the Denominator
- Numerator: It is the number of equal parts which has been taken out from the whole. Eg. where 5 is the numerator.
- Proper fraction : A fraction in which the numerator is lesser than the denominator.
- Improper fraction: A fraction in which the numerator is bigger than the denominator.
- Mixed fraction: A mixed fraction has a combination of a whole and a part. E.g. 2
- Equivalent fraction : Two fractions are said to be equivalent if they represent the same quantity.
- Like fractions: Fractions with same denominators are called like fractions.
- Unlike fraction: Fractions with different denominators are called unlike fractions.
