General Guidelines for Article writing.
- Always study the given matter, information or notes carefully.
- Arrange them in a systematic order.
- Develop each point in a simple, grammatically correct language.
- The article must present the ideas in a logical manner and the writing should be divided into paragraphs.
- Limit the matter as per the given subject and all unwanted details must be avoided.
1. Write an article in 100-120 words on ‘Water pollution’. You are Arpita/Arpan.
Use the following clues:
- What causes water pollution – sewage, industrial waste
- Effect of polluted water on health – Various diseases, soil pollution.

In today’s developing world, not one country is spared from the crises of water pollution. Water pollution has increased beyond the limit that was ever thought of.
The causes of water pollution are many, the main contributors being the factories and industries. Rivers like the Holy Ganges, are polluted by various effluents and industrial wastes. This increases the toxicity of the water and kills many aquatic plants and animals. The industries also dump hot water (before cooling) and various chemical effluents into rivers, leading to imbalance of the ecosystem. Another culprit / cause of water pollution is the untreated sewage which is dumped into the rivers. People also dump unburnt corpses into the rivers and this leads to rise in levels of coliform bacteria, which could cause various epidemics. Agriculture also contributes to this pollution the various fertilizers, pesticides sprayed on the crops, when leached into the rivers, causes eutrophication. This affects the aquatic flora. People also contribute to this problem by bathing in rivers.
Washing utensils and dumping garbage into the rivers. Thus, the effects of polluted water are many. On health, it can cause various diseases to humans when consumed like cholera etc. It can also lead to biological magnification. This polluted water also affects soil and causes soil pollution. In order to prevent water pollution, one needs to be a responsible citizen and not dump garbage, etc. into the water. Industries should treat the sewage, industrial waste before dumping into rivers.
Thus, by social awareness we can combat water pollution and restore balance in the nature, life on earth is impossible without clear and fresh water sources, they are our lifelines and we should collectively maintain them.
2. Drugs affect the future of the young. Drug addicts become insensitive and unproductive. They fail to carry out their responsible in the state of intoxication. Write an article on ‘drug addiction’.

- Students prey to drugs common in metro cities weakens the human brain.
- Lungs and liver affected no treatment for drug addiction.
Ans: Drugs addiction is a grave problem in India. It has become very common among the youth. It has also become a fashion and status symbol. Students leave home to attend classes but become the prey of some wolfish people who multiply their profit by selling drugs.
Drugs addiction is like a marshy land. It engulfs everyone who approaches it. It is more rampant in metro cities. It is an undeniable fact that competition is very tough nowadays. Those who fail once, get depressed and take to drugs. Drugs weakens the human brain and cause many fatal diseases pertaining to lungs and lever. It has become a great social problems.
It cannot be eradicated by police only. Drug addiction is an epidemic. It must understood that there is no treatment for drug addiction. If we adopt an employment based education system , this problem can be minimized. It will give the youth a sense of purpose. They will not feel dejected and isolated. We need to instill optimism into our youngster to wipe out this problem.
