MEANINGS/DEFINATIONS
- Complementary angles: when the sum of the measures of two angles is 90ᵒ, the angles are called complementary angles.
- Supplementary angles: When the sum of the measures of two angles is 180ᵒ. The angles are called supplementary angles.
- Adjacent angles: pair of angles having a common vertex, common arm and non-common arms on either side of the common arm.
- Linear pair: a linear pair is a pair of adjacent angles whose non-common sides are opposite rays.
- Point of intersection: when two lines land l and m meet, we say they intersect, the meeting point is called the point of intersections.
- Parallel lines: lines that do not meet each other however far produced are called parallel lines.
- Vertically opposite angles: when two lines intersect ( looking like the letter X ) we have two pairs of opposite angles. They are called vertically opposite angles.
- Transversal: a transversal is a line that intersects two or more lines at distinct points.
